CCA Message

Bob

My name is Bob Atwell, 2016 President of the Corvette Club of America, often known as CCA. We feel that Corvette Club of America is the oldest Corvette club in the world and we celebrated our 60th Anniversary on July 17, 2016. We held our first meeting on July 17th 1956. This is only 3 years after the Corvette came out for sale in 1953. Back then our club members raced against other sports cars such as those that belonged to the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Porsche Club of America. As you can see it seemed right at the time to call ourselves Corvette Club of America.

CCA has always been about pursuing our automotive passions and having fun with our Corvettes. We do this by planning fun activities that appeal to a broad range of interests. We offer social events, car shows and speed events. Our Social events include brunch, winery, dinner cruises and Holiday parties. CCA sponsors “Fun” car shows as well as participating in shows sponsored by other clubs. CCA sponsors speed events including Autocross Primer Classes, for those new to Autocross, holding Autocross Competition events as well as High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) events.

We are a non-profit organization and we like to give back to the community by supporting local charities. Among our current charities is the Wells/Robertson House, Hospice Caring of Montgomery County and Toys for Tots. In addition we sponsor a Scholarship Fund at the University of Maryland School of Engineering. We are a Lifetime Member Club Level of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky as well as “One Acre Club” member club for the NCM Motorsports Park.

The Corvette Club of America, Inc. encourages the ownership of Corvettes and provides the opportunity for our members to exchange information and knowledge on how to best maintain and enjoy your Corvette. CCA has a strong relationship with our sponsor Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring. We gather once a month for Shop Night at Sport where we help each other with maintenance such as Oil Change, Brake replacement, Tire rotation and just about anything you can get done in two and half hours. We usually end the evening by enjoying the company of our fellow members at a local restaurant.

Our members are mostly from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. area, however, we also have “Long Distance” members in other states as well as our first “International Members” in Queensland, Australia! Membership requires a strong interest in Corvettes. Please feel free to check out the rest of our web site to learn more about CCA. We have a long, rich history and we are always interested in hearing from others who share our passion for Corvette as much as we do.
If you like to have fun, enjoy Corvettes and would like to be part of our historic club, then please consider joining us. There is a link titled
“Join the CCA” which will show you how.

I hope to hear from you and look forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely,
Bob Atwell
2016 President
