Definitions
Autocross:
This is a test of driving skills. This course can be set up in a parking
lot using pylons to mark the course or it can be held on a approved track.
The course has the drivers crossing over their own path as he/she
maneuvers the care around the course in the shortest period of time.
Concours:
Although there are several categories each with its own level of
cleanliness a concours is basically the “White glove” test of a Corvette. Each car owner strives to achieve the best-detailed interior,
exterior and engine.
Cruise/Caravan:
This is the clubs most popular event.
A cruise consists of club members traveling to a specific destination
together. The event can be a
luncheon or dinner, a car show, another clubs event or any number of other
events we may find interesting.
Drags:
This event involves taking your car to an approved track and drag racing
another car usually for a quarter mile. The
cars are divided into similar classes, which provides the driver a chance to
“See what she’ll do”.
Economy Run:
This event is held on open roads to check gas mileage over a specific
route, usually 50-100 miles. This
is not one of our popular events since we drive Corvettes not Honda Civics.
Funkhana:
This event is designed for both driver and navigator.
The driver must maneuver the car through various often-humorous obstacles
on the course. Although this is a
time based event it can provide hours of fun for the spectators alike.
Rally: Different
types of rallies include “Fun or Gimmick” Rallies also require both a driver
and navigator. Winning a rally
depends on the following:
- How
well your team can follow a set of instructions and/or directions and
answering questions to complete the route.
- Time,
Speed & Distance (TSD). Traveling at specific speeds over a certain
course in a specified time.
- Hare
& Hound. Traveling the
route using only visual clues and no printed directions.
